West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners
A Mountain State of Running
Membership to West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners offers many benefits to you and the community. Member dues financially support our unique trail races held across the state of West Virginia. WVMTR also hosts a number of non-competitive runs and social events that are open to everyone. Your membership aids in the purchase of many of the supplementary items that make our events so much fun, such as music speakers, timing clocks, aid station supplies and finish line equipment. Critically important for safety, member dues are applied to the cost of insurance carried by the club. Insurance exists to cover event participants in the unfortunate event of an accident. As a member, you’ll also receive registration discounts on some club races and non-club races; these options change over time so keep your eyes open for special offers. Club apparel is also available for purchase by anyone, but on occasion there are special apparel deals available to club members only – don’t miss out!
Members of WVMTR participate in giving back to the communities that surround them. We help construct and maintain trails for use by runners, bikers, hikers, and all other forest adventurers. Check out the new trails in the Fox Forest Wildlife Management Area in Elkins, WV and the numerous trials surrounding Judy Springs in the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area — WVMTR members played a principal role in the development and maintenance of these trail systems! Additionally, a number of our races make donations to non-profit organizations sharing similar objectives of helping the community. Check out the Helvetia Fair Association in Helvetia, WV working to preserve the cultural identity of the native Swiss population, the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association, and the Boy Scout troops in Ona and Eleanor, WV.
As a club member, you can run for Board of Directors and help make the decisions that guide the direction of our club. Members receive a vote in all club elections, and are instrumental in creating new club events and races. If you have an idea for a new race or a non-competitive event, we would love to hear it! But you must be a club member to be the Director of any of these activities. Above all, participating in our club is a family and social activity that creates positive and healthy relationships between members and the environment. We look forward to seeing you at any of our races or club events!
WVMTR club membership starts at just $10 and comes in a variety of packages: single, family, yearly, or lifetime. Applications are available by online only at RunSignUp.
