Start to Aid # 1
The race starts in the Johnson Hollow Parking lot, which is located about 3.5 miles from the park entrance. It is on the left immediately after the entrance to the campground. From the crushed limestone parking lot run south towards Pigeon Roost Trail on the main road. Run up Pigeon Roast Trail (steep single tract) ¾ mile to Boundary Ridge Road. Turn right (north) onto Boundary Ridge Road (unmarked, dirt). Proceed uphill about a ½ mile to aid station #1.
Aid # 1 to Aid # 2
Turn right onto C-26 Gas Well Road (unmarked). Continue on C-26 Gas Well Road and turn right onto Pine Ridge Trail. Follow Pine Ridge Trail (single tract, rolling ridge line) to Dunlop Trail. (New in 2009) Turn left on to Dunlop Trail. The narrow single tract will descend down switchbacks to a forest road. Turn right towards the ball field. Run through the fields over two bridges to aid station #2.
Aid # 2 to Aid # 3
From aid station #2 run across the hard road to the White Hollow Trailhead. Proceed up White Hollow Trail (very steep single track) for about 1 mile. After the switchbacks you will come to a green sign that reads “White Hollow Trail”. Follow arrows and stay on White Hollow Trail. As of 2015 this is a crushed stone road. After a short rolling section you will come to a second green sign at a large boulder that reads “White Hollow Trail”. Do not follow sign. Run up hill on the crush stone road to road and turn right (south). Continue north on dirt road for about 1 mile to aid station #3.
Aid # 3 to Finish
From aid station #3 turn left onto unmarked section of Middle Ridge Trail (not on map). Follow Middle Ridge Trail (single tract, rolling ridge line) to Shrewsbury Hollow Road (unmarked, dirt) and turn right (new in 2016). Continue up Shrewsbury Road less that 100 feet and turn right onto Middle Ridge Road. Follow Middle Ridge Road for about 3/10th mile then turn right onto first unmarked road (this is the same road that AS#3 is located) follow this road ~500 feet and turn left onto Middle Ridge Trail (marked). Middle Ridge Trail will cross Middle Ridge Road twice before intersecting at Johnson Hollow Trail. Turn Right onto Johnson Hollow Trail (steep single tract) and run ¾ mile to the finish at Shelter #6.
