The WVMTR does need a  medical response policy that recognizes the vastly different circumstances of our range races. Potts evaluation recommendations are is good. Bill, could you put something together on paper for us begin the conversation among ourselves first.

The Golden Hour for getting medical and accident victims is a hard fact impacting a favorable outcome, every minute does indeed count.

The Tucker County OEM/EMS Director is attending the next Heart of the Highlands meeting in early August to discuss EMS access issues on State and Federal lands in the county. This has nothing specifically to do with Highlands Sky, but I believe the discussion will be helpful.

I feel like we know roughly where we want to go with this plan of action or policy, but my question is frankly how do we get there.  What about establishing a sub-committee to work up some sort of draft to present to the whole board?

I think we need to nail down the action items as a result of this discussion.

1.  An outline of a propose medical response policy that considers the diversity of our race locations, distances, and weather.   Who?

2. A report of the discussion from the next heart of highlands meeting as it relates to #1.  Who?

3. Schedule a leadership meeting/committee meeting to write the initial draft of a policy that we can present at the next RD meeting for feedback. Who?

4. Possibly a short term recommendations to share with RDs that are hosting races prior to the next RD meeting.  Maybe?

I think that is a good summation and plan Dan Todd.  The most complicating thing in my mind, is when/how we get together and meet about this?  I know you will be busy Friday night at Marlinton, but who else would be willing to find a quiet room in Tim or Dan's house to meet and discuss some of these points?  I think this is the most timely and efficient means of us getting together to address this.

Thoughts?

Can we please come up with a date/plan for a meeting to establish basic first response guidelines?

I would be happy to review the RRCA and other literature and bring back tot he board some recommendations to consider for adoption to club races. I could have this done in a month.

I make a motion Bill Potts review this collection of ideas and assemble an action plan outline for the Board to consider in August 2018.

Seconded, but I don't think such action requires a motion or vote.  We will have to vote on the final product.

Thank you Bill Potts!

Bill, do you still want to attempt to set-up a meeting or do you want to simply come up with a draft that we as a small, working board can augment and pass around for revision/s?
