I am excited for this event too. With the retirement of a long and great tradition of Dirty Dog, I think the community will be welcoming of a different, and quality dog-friendly event.

I support the concerns mentioned by @daniel. It seems the mentorship concern has been addressed. I also support suggesting raising the entry price by $5.

Here are my concerns

• As mentioned by @daniel, I also would like to see deeper awards with age categories. Looking at the proposed budget, I see that $1400 for all-finishers metal, and $300 for top 3 male/female seems like a lot of focus on the top finishers. Perhaps that money could be distributed to more, less expensive awards. At the risk of being repetitive, I loved the Dirty Dog dog-tags. I carry mine on my main keyring.
• The proposed date is March 19, which is only 1 week before the usual date of Haulin in the Holler on March 26. Given that these races are only 11 miles apart, I would like to see a little more separation in dates. Do we know if the HitH date is staying in March? There was discussion of it moving to November, but then also Canary in the Cave would be returning in November if Zeke is available next year. Would an April or May date work?

I don't want to stand in the way of this event, but just some thoughts. Can't wait to check out these trails.
