West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners
A Mountain State of Running
Please give us a report Lauren. After Lauren gives her report, I would entertain a motion and a second to accept.
Balances as of this morning:
Money Market- $53,522.02
Checking- $46,699.29
Savings- $1491.00
Total $101,712.31
Our cash position is higher than it was this time last year with a peak in February 2024 of $112,466.
Overall for calendar year 2023 we operated at a very small loss. I am not completely finished with financials but looks like the overall loss will only be around $2,000, whereas last year it was $21k. It is hard to compare 2022 to 2023 because the income is a bit skewed in 2022. There appears to be a large increase in income in 2023 mostly attributed to Highlands but you have to take into account that a lot of 2022 runners paid before 2022 with the covid deferrals. Highlands did raise their entry fee so some can be attributed to that too. I was not treasurer in 2021 so I cant compare back before 2022. I think looking at past bank statements, 2023 seems to be more "normal" in terms of net income, which I personally think is good, we didn't make a huge profit (not our goal) and we didn't lose a huge amount.
I am showing charitable donations in calendar year 2023 of approximately $5500.
I am set to file our 990 on time by the 5/15 deadline.
Recently we have had Muddy Mutt which seemed to be a huge success on the income statement. Jason netted $2,344.27 after our 10% take and donated this money to Hurricane PD k9 unit.
Kanawha Trace just happened so I have not received their data yet, but it looked to be a great time!
Please let me know if anyone has questions!
Super report. Thanks Lauren.
