West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners
A Mountain State of Running
Monongahela National Forest Seeks West Virginia Resource Advisory Committee Members -- Monongahela National Forest is recruiting people who are interested in serving on the West Virginia Resource Advisory Committee (RAC). West Virginia RAC members recommend how the Forest Service should award Title II funds from the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act. To receive greatest consideration, submit your applications by June 30th, 2024.
This is a bit random and Adam posted it to Facebook but its the long sort of post that probably nobody bothered to read. It appears to be to be a good way to get runners, and club members, a seat at the table for allocating funding to the following types of projects:
They are looking for representatives from various industries and user groups. Check the post for the full list but here's a few that caught my eye. Being a state-wide and diverse organization we likely have members who fit all the categories. In my experience, having your representatives at the table is a really important step and I would love to have some of our club members on there representing runners, forest users, parents, and more. Any thoughts for club members who we might reach out to who fit categories and are interested to engage in this way?
Desired Member Categories:
Dispersed Recreational Activities
Archaeology or History
Nationally or Regionally Recognized Wild Horse and Burro Interest, Wildlife or Hunting Organizations, or Watershed Associations

Emily Huguenin commented that she applied. She would be an excellent candidate!
Maybe Dennis and Pete Daly, as a teacher, would do it together.
A note of encouragement from a board member would likely go far in encouraging someone who might be "on the fence" for applying.
