May 4-5, 2024
The trail work and training run weekend this year is Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5, 2024. We will meet at the Highlands Sky Start in Laneville at 8:00am both days. This is a great opportunity to see the course before race day and get some quality trail time for your training. This weekend is open to all. It is not necessary to help Saturday with the trail work to attend the trainer on Sunday, but help is appreciated and it’s fun! Please complete the form below if you plan to attend.
The trail work day is on Saturday at 8:00 am. Meet at the race start, which may be found on the Directions page. We will break into groups and work trails from mile 2 to mile 18. Trail work includes trimming thorny and briery bushes, and cutting fallen limbs lying across the trail. No powered tools are permitted, only handheld tools loppers, sven folding saw, or just your hands, and bring gloves.
The training run on Sunday is at 8:00 am. Meet at the race start, which may be found on the Directions page. There are two loops available: a 21 mile loop and a 14 mile loop.
Camping is available nearby; up Red Creek Trail from the parking lot near the race start, up on Dolly Sods, or anywhere else in the Monongahela National Forest, but you must camp at least 300 feet off the road. There are several lodging options 30 minutes away in Canaan Valley.
