I received two donation requests:
1) A request of $1,000 from Matthew Young of the Meeks Mountain Trail Alliance (MMTA) for tools, signs, materials and education efforts for the trails. MMTA is responsible for the build and operation of the Meeks Mountain Trail system here in Hurricane and is supported with volunteer effort. Many of the WVMTR members in our area are active in building and using these trails over the past 2 years. They currently have over 13 miles of trails, with the ultimate goal of 26 miles. This has been a volunteer effort with the labor and tools primarily being donated. There have been over 260 unique individuals contributing to the effort and over 7000 volunteer hours.

2) Highlands Sky has with WVMTR Board approval donated $1000 to the HoH from race profits for several years. With no 2020 or 2021 event that donation was not made. HoH has a very modest operating budget and donations are very helpful. I'm asking the Board to consider making a $1000 donation. This could be considered as coming from past years HS profits, or be tagged to the Trilogy 2021 profits which we hope to host this October 8-10.
As a side note, HoH has submitted a Federal Lands Access Program grant to fund construction of the Headwaters Trail that will connect Canaan Valley State Park to the FWS Refuge Visitors Center. We have made the first cut and are in a good position to get the funding.

I am supportive of both these donations especially since we have board members involved in both projects that can make sure our funds are used to support trail building.

I am also in support. I think it is important to continue to give back even if we haven't had as much income as normal. Especially with things looking like they will be back on track soon.

I support these donations as well. They contribute to our mission of promoting and supporting running in the state.

Do we have a motion to approve these donations?

I personally would like to see if Bob has any discussion to add before we approve spending $2k of club money before I offer a motion. I do recognize that we have a quorum.

Both look like worthwhile causes to me.
