West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners
A Mountain State of Running
Andrew, care to take the lead on this discussion?
In years past (pre-covid) the Annual Meeting has been help at Spruce Knob or Marlinton for a weekend of camping and running. After a few years of cancellation, the 2022 Annual Meeting was held at Otter Creek Wilderness for one day. I am proposing to host the 2023 Annual Meeting at our house in Durbin, WV.
The house has 2 bedrooms, 7 beds (bunkbeds), and plenty of yard space for 5-6 tents, a full kitchen and bathroom. The East Fork and West Fork of the Greenbrier meet in Durbin, there is the Greenbrier River Trail. A trail head for Allegheny Trail is nearby, and there is a trail near the house (Span Oak Run Trail).
Similar dates work for us, one of the last two weekends in July, either July 21-23, or July 28-30.
I think this would be great. I would love to check out some of those trails and it's an area most of us have not explored. 7/21-23 would be my choice, but could likely attend either. Thank you for the kind offer Andrew!
Andrew, You rock. Thanks for rescue of our annual meeting for 2023!
Love this idea! Would love to nail down a date and get it on my calendar. Aaron would be so pumped. He loves this area.
I’m positive about this idea. A summer meeting was very successful. Though I do miss going to Helvetia in the middle of the winter.
Yes, to Andrew's proposal. Yes, to a nostalgic trip to Helvetia even if Lehmann doesn't invite us.
It seems that the 7/21-7/23 date has good support. I'll update the website at some point soon.
