The Annual Meeting is tentatively scheduled for 7/19/25.  We have had the meeting at the Rhode's camp outside Durbin the past two years, but we are going to try something new for 2025.

I would like to suggest something a little simpler -- similar to what we did in '21/'22.  A one-day meeting in a littler easier venue for folks to get to and the opportunity to run on some new trails (unless you live around Elkins). I recommend holding the 2025 Annual meeting at Stuart Park outside of Elkins.  We would rent a pavilion at Stuarts and there would be coverage in the case of rain, big fields kids and dogs to run, easy access to Shaver's fork for play and cooling off, and a short shuttle to Otter Creek Wilderness for a run (option for shorter runs from Stuart Park).  Camping is available there at Stuart Park, but there is also Bear Heaven/Haven and a myriad of other options for free in the MNF.

Thoughts and further discussion?

I support trying something new for 2025.

I understand the appeal of Elkins for convenience, but I appreciate the wild feeling of somewhere a little more out of the way as well. At the risk of complicating something simple, what do we think about Holly River State Park? It's not too far from Elkins, has group camping and a pool for any kids that might be around, and the running is great. Even if you just do an out and back on the gravel to the old Balli Sisters place, you'll get a heck of a view.

The annual meetings have had low attendance recently when held at remote locations, like my camp in Durbin. I like the Stuart Park idea that can facilitate families and runners and a sheltered meeting in case it rains. I support Stuart Rec Area.

I think a 1 day is a great idea. We loved the camp in Durbin, but with added children and medical equipment it is increasingly difficult for us to stay overnight somewhere other than our home.

Encouraging more participation at the annual meeting is a great objective and, of course, being in that area Stuarts/Elkins is very convenient for me. However, I will just throw out there the thought of choosing a public venue in the Charleston direction to. be inclusive of significant membership in that area of the state. Seems like with Spruce, Seneca, Helvetia, etc., the annual meeting venue is frequently in this region. (I’m not opposed to Stuarts. Just want to consider the options.)

Oh, that's a good point Katie. I am now recalling that last year in Durbin there was a mention of alternating the annual meeting place between North and South. This year could be a good chance to start that -- although it does throw a wrench in Adam's gears.

I previously considered all of these points in making my recommendation. There's certainly no perfect centralized location to please everyone.

We do not necessarily need to vote on this topic, but we must reach a consensus.  If that does not occur via discussion, then we will ultimately vote on the date and location of the Annual Meeting.  As of now, there is only one actionable plan presented.

I move to hold the 2025 Annual meeting at Stuart Park outside of Elkins on July 19.

I like the idea of flip flopping between north and south each year but for 2025 I am happy with Stuart Park

Durbin is conveniently neither particularly north or particularly South so starting the pattern with Elkins/Stuart sounds great.
