West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners
A Mountain State of Running
Any items of new or old business not addressed by this agenda?
I can report that membership seems to be holding steady just under 400 members with a slight growth since 2025. RSU makes graphs, too, but this forum doesn't seem to support image upload and I'd rather have them be part of the minutes rather than hosted externally.

Wonderful, thanks Ian. No doubt those excellent newsletters of yours have something to do with it!
@acasseday I prefer to think of it as they haven't run anyone off yet. 😎
Great to see the membership numbers holding strong. Thanks for sharing the report.
To recap: we experienced some catastrophic issues with the timing system last year at Highlands Sky and WV Trilogy. It stems from a water entering the box sometime last year. Long story short is that Race Results replaced the circuit board, free of charge, which fixed all the issues. I used the system once already this year flawlessly. Everything ran smooth and easy. I just have to remember to close the box when it is raining! Like actually snap shut, not just lay down the lid.
We should host a timing system training session this summer for any RDs that want to learn. The Race Results box is the easy part. The RaceDayScoring software from RunSignUp is the tricky part. The only real way to learn RaceDayScoring is to struggle through it and learn the locations of the settings. I can bring to the annual group meeting which I can now attend.
The club timing system is used by Highlands Sky, WV Trilogy, and Helvetia 10k. KT Runs, Muddy Mutt pay someone for their timing. Every club event is welcome to use it.
@arhodes5 Thanks for the update Andrew. I'm not an RD yet but I would love to learn the timing system. Would be happy to volunteer in that area when I can. I support the idea of the timing system training, and it may be a good idea to establish a lending library system for other club events to borrow it if they have people who have been through the training.
Thanks for tackling all the issues surrounding the time hardware and software. The first times we used it at Highlands and Trilogy, it was absolutely amazing. The technology vastly improved our finish line experience -- for RDs and vols, but also for the runners (no more yelling and screaming about bib #s). I am excited to have it back in action!
