This Planning Guide was discontinued on 10/20/2022. These policies are no longer in effect.
The WVMTR Board of Directors has adopted a Preparedness and Safety Planning Guide for hosting club sponsored races and events. The Board has adopted a set of guidelines that all WVMTR events and races must follow. The WVMTR Event Waiver also has been updated to include language specific to COVID-19.
Guidelines for Holding WVMTR Events
Until further notice, any races that meet criteria to proceed must have a COVID Mitigation Plan presented to the WVMTR Board of Directors that must include, but is not limited to:
Club supported fun run guidelines:
Our policies are informed by the state and federal guidelines put forth by the WV DHHR and CDC. Please stay up-to-date by visiting their websites for more information.
The goal of the WVMTR is to encourage running and the healthy, positive qualities that running encompasses.
See you on the trail,
WVMTR Board of Directors and Race Directors
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the WVMTR Board of Directors and Race Directors have decided to reevaluate the occurrence of club sponsored races and events on an individual basis. In these tough times, we must do all that we can to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. As we receive daily information updates regarding COVID-19, we will evaluate each event at least 4 weeks prior to its scheduled occurrence.
Our objective is to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 among our family of members, volunteers, race participants, everyone’s families, and the community at large. We can accomplish this by limiting the large gathering of people at our races and events. In doing so, we provide the medical field time to respond to the pandemic and treat those who are infected without inundating the healthcare system. Our policies are informed by the state and federal guidelines put forth by the WV DHHR and CDC. Please stay up-to-date by visiting their websites for more information.
There have been multiple changes to our calendar. Please visit each race or event page individually to find more information regarding refund policies and personal notes from the Race Directors.
The goal of the WVMTR is to encourage running and the healthy, positive qualities that running encompasses. We contend that the act of running itself is still a safe activity. We encourage you to maintain a healthy active lifestyle by continuing to run, but please follow the federal and state guidelines on maintaining a social distance of at least six feet from others, and be sure to wash your hands regularly. For more suggestions on running etiquette, we found this RRCA article to be helpful.
We eagerly await the day when we all can join together again on the trail as friends and runners. Until then, watch out for that hairy Sasquatch, keep your dog dirty, and for good measure, howl in your local holler!
See you on the trail,
WVMTR Board of Directors and Race Directors
