At our January meeting, I said that I would work towards finding a location for the 2022 WVMTR Annual Meeting. I said I would respond by the end of February, so I apologize for the delay.

I reached out to the SMS crew asking about their willingness to be a host site for the Annual Meeting. However, they declined to host the Annual Meeting this year.

Instead, I propose another option for this year’s Annual Meeting location. Let’s hold a single day group run and meeting. Let’s meet at Otter Creek Wilderness just East of Elkins. We hold a morning group run, followed by lunch and the annual meeting. Meeting could be held at the trail head, or at the nearby Bear Haven Campground which has picnic tables. Perhaps we can use the grill at Bear Haven, or even simpler is to order pizza and sandwiches from a restaurant in Elkins.

In the few years before COVID, the Annual Meeting had evolved to be an entire camp, run, and meeting weekend. However, with the continuing uncertainty of COVID variants, any substantial plans could be affected by a last-minute variant arrival. Regardless of any COVID variant, an outdoor Annual Meeting on a single day at Otter Creek could occur without any changes.

For those members that want to make a weekend of it, there is plenty of camping in the region, from Bear Haven (minutes away) to Davis (about 60 min away).
