West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners
A Mountain State of Running
I'm going to take another stab at this. Last year was a bust due to inventory issues with Patagonia. I will try again with Patagonia Down Sweaters with an embroidered WVMTR logo on the chest. The orders will be processed via RunSignUp. Looks like they will cost around $185 and that will include shipping. I plan to send the link and info out to the general membership when I send the call for BOD nominations.
I’m in. With or without hood? I vote “with” if it’s open to discussion.
Good for you Adam. Tackling the clothing issue is nice. We have had so many Patagonia issues in the past and just stopped using them all together for Sasquatch. If you can get WVMTR club jackets I think others will appreciate them.
@bob-luther, that's a good idea. I can offer each likely.
@daniel, I think I'm going to try to do it "old school" this year rather than using the RSU store function. I can give folks the option of standard vs. hoody down sweater and they can simply give email me their size, top 3 color choices from a list of options, and mail a check. The inventory is still a little light with Patagonia, but I think we can make it work.
Too old school? People still mail checks? 🙄
@acasseday I would say “check preferred”. Please contact me if you need an alternate payment. Then you could accept Venmo and you write a check to the club.
$185 price point you might make sure it’s members with a current membership so we have current info.
@daniel, I'm an 80yo in a 42yo body. I don't know how to do Venmo 😳
Is there a way to set-up a club PayPal or Venmo?

I would shy away from setting up an app to pull and push funds from the club account as we don’t have the best controls in place (such as I don’t know who has my club card at the moment). If an individual took it on for this project they would control it.
just make they buy a money order or use a check. Many people under 30 likely don’t have a checkbook much less know how to write a check. I know my kids don’t.
@daniel, that's sound advice. If they can't send me a check, I'll set up Venmo and reimburse the club personally. I just want to avoid RSU and the extra fees -- especially if things would happen to fall through again (although, I don't believe that will happen this go round).
@matt Yes we can use RSU, but there are fees on each transaction. If the order falls through, the club loses money on all the transaction fees.
I have a Venmo account, and a Zelle account. We use these apps a lot to send/receive rent checks so they can handle large amounts. I can offer my Venmo services to the club.
@arhodes5, thanks Andrew. I will likely just open a personal Venmo account if necessary. It will be easier and cleaner financially that way.
To Dan's point...this club does have lackluster financial controls. But, if a member were to set up an app to pull and push funds from the account, I would know pretty easily if they were pulling funds or not depositing all funds received. I guess to that point I could be in on the scheme, but I am not losing my license over that LOL. I would be OK with a board member having a WVMTR Zelle or Venmo.
